Since 1973
For more than 50 years, Amplify Life has served teens and adults with disabilities across Northern Nevada and Northern California.
Amplify Life provides life-changing programs with educational and therapeutic benefits that are not only designed to enhance the quality of life for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, but also provide much-needed respite for caregivers. We are the only therapeutic residential year-round recreational camp organization that serves children, teens, or adults with intellectual, developmental, learning, communication, and/or emotional disabilities in the Northern Nevada region.
We never age beneficiaries out of our programs, as this is where they connect, learn, and grow, even into their later years. Beneficiaries primarily come from Northern Nevada and Northern California, including rural areas from both states. Because our type of program is unique, we also accommodate people in need beyond these regions whenever possible.
For many of our clients, our events and programs are the only ones they attend, and we are their only source of social interaction and social skill-building activities. Our donors, partners, and incredible volunteers make this possible.
Our goal is to improve the lives of the clients we serve. We offer a wide range of skills-based and social/recreational programs for teens and adults with disabilities. These programs contribute to:
Increasing the skills of clients, including life skills, prevocational job skills, self-advocacy, communication and socialization skills.
Real friendships develop with other program participants. People with and without disabilities learn with and from each other in inclusive environments.
Parents and caregivers want the people they care for to be accepted by their peers, have friends and lead full lives. Our programs help make this vision a reality, and give families the chance to witness the impact of social inclusion.
61 percent of our caregivers say there are not enough respite opportunities available to them. Our programs fill to 100 percent capacity within weeks of opening registration.
To get started with our organization, we first have an in-person new client intake. Schedule your intake appointment here.
We serve teens and adults with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities, including autism, Down syndrome, ADHD, bipolar disorder, cerebral palsy, traumatic brain injuries, and related disorders. 61% of our clients also have a secondary diagnosis.
Our clients’ ages range from 14 years old and up. Amplify Life does not age out. Some programs have specific age limits.
See Our Programs for current schedules and costs.
Yes. All clients must pay for the program(s) they attend. SRC funding may be used for many programs, and our monthly scholarship program can help with costs.
Our staff-to-camper ratio of 1:4 provides a safe and fun program experience. If a participant requires 1:1 support at school, they must bring an accompanying adult to Amplify Life programs.
Camp Lotsafun is done through an online application process only, and applicants must be established Amplify Life clients. Our staff reviews every application for safety and health suitability.
Amplify Life does not provide transportation, but clients can use RTC Access. Please schedule pickup 30 minutes before the program ends. Our address is 480 Galletti Way, Bldg. 2, Sparks, NV 89431 (the white building with green trim).
Yes. We work hard to schedule and create programs for our clients, so fees remain due for no-shows. Regional Center funds cannot cover no-shows, and non-payment results in a temporary program ban.
Contact our Program Coordinator, Kennedy, at kennedy@amplifylife.org. All volunteers complete a background check and fingerprinting. We recruit many of our volunteers from UNR and TMCC.
Office staff are generally in the office Monday–Friday from 9am to 4pm. We are closed for all WCSD, state, and federal holidays.
