Kasey's Experiences at Amplify

Updated: Apr 16, 2019

By Amy Garland (Amplify Life Board Member and Kasey's Mom)

Words cannot describe how thankful I am for the impact that Amplify Life has had on my daughter, Kasey.

Our journey with Amplify Life began many years ago when the organization was known as Camp Lotsafun when Kasey was very young. As a mother, you want to make sure your child gets every opportunity afforded them. You need information and assurance to feel comfortable your child is safe and in the best hands possible. Back then, communication between parent and staff was challenging at times. Yet I was determined that Kasey would have a camp experience. However, after Kasey’s camp experience was not as rewarding as we had hoped for, she and I decided camp was not for her. With so few social opportunities for people with special needs, we struggled to find rewarding activities that she could participate in.

Years later, Kasey is back at Amplify Life, which has grown from just simply summer camp recreation to offering a variety of programs to include job and skills camps. I have watched my daughter grow and exceed far past my expectations. I see a young woman that values hard work and doing a job right. She follows instructions and wants to help wherever she is needed. She wants to do the job right. I see a budding artist that loves to express herself in pottery. I see a young woman who has grown in confidence and is not afraid to share her opinion. I see a young woman who enjoys life and spreads her positivity to others. I know that these qualities have always been in my daughter, but Amplify Life helped her to bring them out and share them with the world.

I am so proud to be a part of such a wonderful organization that helps those, like my daughter Kasey, reach their fullest potential.
